Although not all of us have been called to be full time Missionaries, there are other opportunities to GO and to reach out in love to those in spiritual and physical need. Here are some of the ways that Living Hope has spread God's love to "the ends of the earth".
The homeless truly are "the least of these" in our society, and are very often ignored or pushed aside. Periodically, teams from Living Hope will travel to Philadelphia and reach out to the homeless in the city with food, clothing, prayer and conversation. Living Hope has also partnered with the Sunday Breakfast Rescue Mission in Philadelphia and serves evening meals every first Friday of the month at the SBRM homeless shelter in Philadelphia.
Convoy of Hope Community Outreach
Community Outreach events coordinated by Convoy of Hope provide an opportunity for Living Hope to pack groceries, give haircuts, perform health screenings, and pray with those in need. We participated in 2009 at an event in Hagerstown, MD, and in 2010 and 2011 we worked at the Hope4Philly outreach events by serving in Philadelphia.
Hurricanes, tornados, and floods impact thousands of people every year, and many people cannot recover without help from ministries like Samaritan's Purse. Living Hope worked with Samaritan's Purse in disaster relief activies following floods in Iowa in 2008 at at the Jersey Shore following Superstorm Sandy in 2012.
Living Hope, in cooperation with other Assembly of God Churches in New Jersey, has participated in many trips to the Dominican Republic to work on schools that are operated by Latin America Child Care. These continuing projects have allowed many students in the Domincan Republic to get a good education and help to break the cycle of poverty that many would otherwise be trapped in.
